Forge Class Home Learning

...

Dear Children,

Each week we will be setting some work for you to complete at home.  Please do not feel that you have to do every task as I am sure you will have some of your own fantastic ideas that you will be busy doing at home.  You could use your yellow book that came home to record some of these activities in if you wish.  We would love to see some of the things you have been doing so ask a grown-up to send a photo or an email to us.   Don't forget to try and do some reading each day with an adult!  Take care and we hope to see you all soon x

Hello Forge Class!
We are nearly at the end of the first week and Mrs Fisher and I wanted to make sure you are all well.
We hope you’ve been getting on with your tasks and having fun whilst doing them!
Don’t forget, you can send us pictures of any work you would like to share.
Take care and stay safe x

What a strange first week it has been being at home!  We have added some new ideas for you for next week under week 2.  Don't forget you do not have to do all of the activities and they do not need to be in any particular order.  We suggest you try one English, one maths, one topic and a phonics activity each day if you can.  Try to do some reading each day, this could be recipes, comics, your favourite book or one of the books on Oxford Owl.  We have been quickly learning that it is much easier teaching all of you than our own children!  It would be fantastic to see what you have been up to as we are missing seeing your smiling faces.  Take care and keep smiling x

1/4/20

Good afternoon Forge Class,

Today would have been our last day at school before the Easter holidays. Mrs Fisher and I haven't set any work for the break but still feel free to send us any messages and pictures of fun things you do at home. We miss you all very much and hope to see you soon.

Take care xx

Evening Forge Class,

Today marks the start of Holy Week, take some time to look through the acts of kindness that we had in school. They have been adapted for you to think about at home. Maybe print it off and colour in the acts you have done already and those you do during Holy Week. We would love to see how kind and helpful you have been whilst sharing this time with your family at home.  It is in the extra resources section, named Holy Week Challenges.

We hope you all have a wonderful Easter weekend and try not to eat too much chocolate!!!

Take care and keep smiling x

16.04.20

Good morning Forge Class,

Welcome back to our home learning page. We do hope you have had some fun over the Easter break and that you are safe and well. We miss you lots and hopefully we will see you soon.

Below you will find week 3 of our home learning tasks for the rest of this week. The activities are based upon our new topic.

Don't forget to send us pictures of your creations and of you having fun whilst doing them.

Take care

Mrs Green and Mrs Fisher x

Evening Forge Class,

Sorry that some of the links did not work.  We have put the files in week 3 so that you can open them that way.  It has been fantastic to already see some of the wonderful things that you have been doing.  We look forward to seeing some more.

Take care

Mrs Fisher and Mrs Green x

19.04.20

Good afternoon Forge Class,

We have put the work for week 4 in the folder below.  Please just do what you can.  You may find that some activities take longer than others so you may not get everything done.  Some of our English tasks are based on the book we would have been looking at in class 'Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs' by Judi Barrett.  If you get the chance, maybe you could watch the film or there is a link here to the book being read online https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q5uXp4694sE.

Don't forget to keep sending us emails of what you have been up to.  It has been wonderful to see some fantastic learning taking place at home.

Take care,

Mrs Fisher and Mrs Green x

26.04.20

Good afternoon Forge Class,

We hope that you all have had a good week.  We have had lots of photos and emails from you this week and it has been fantastic to see what you all have been doing.  Keep up the hard work!  We have added the work for this week in the week 5 folder.  There are lots of extra bits this week which go with the plans.  As last week, please just do what you can.  You may get all of it done but you may only get a little bit done and that is perfectly fine.  We look forward to seeing what you get up to this week so please keep sending us emails.

Take care,

Mrs Fisher and Mrs Green x

03.05.20

Good morning Forge Class,

Thank you for all of the lovely emails that we have received this week.  It has been wonderful to see what you have been doing and to keep in contact with you.  If you have not emailed us since we have not been at school then please do as it would be fantastic to see how you all are. We have added a week 6 folder for the upcoming week.  It is a four day week as Friday is a bank holiday for VE day. Please just complete what you can and it can be done in any order, apart from the first few English tasks that do follow on from one another.  We hope you all have a great week.

Take care,

Mrs Fisher and Mrs Green x

10/5/20

Good afternoon Forge Class,

Mrs Fisher and I do hope you are all okay and have had a good week. Thank you for sending us emails and your work. Keep it up as we miss you all so much and we love hearing from you! We hope you had fun celebrating VE Day and made some memories to tell us about.

We have added a week 7 folder for the upcoming week. Again, please just have a go and complete what you can.

We hope you are all still safe and well!

Take care

love

17.05.20

Good morning Forge Class,

We hope that you are all continuing to keep safe whilst you are at home.  It looks as if the sun is going to be back out this week so hopefully you can all get to spend some time outdoors with your family.  Mrs Green, Mrs Place and I had a zoom call with a couple of children from Forge Class yesterday.  It was wonderful to be able to see their faces and to catch up with what they have been doing at home.  If you would like a zoom call with us (and a small group of friends from Forge Class) then please get your parents to email us and we will try to arrange a time that is convenient for us all.  We will try to keep the groups to under 6 children so that we can all hear each other.  The work for week 8 has been added below in the week 8 folder.  There will be no work set for next week as it is half-term.  Please remember to just do what you can, you do not have to try and complete everything.

Take care,

Mrs Fisher and Mrs Green x

31.05.20

Good morning Forge Class and a warm welcome to our new members!

We hope that you have all had a fun and restful half-term.  We are looking forward to seeing some of you tomorrow when we come back to school. If you have not already seen it make sure you take a look at the video that shows you some of the changes that have taken place in Forge Class. It is on the home learning page of the school website.  It is certainly going to be a little strange for all of us to begin with and we are going to miss those of you that will not be back at school yet.  Please keep sending us videos and updates about how you are as we love to hear from you and see what you have all been up to.  As we are both back in school we may be a little slower than normal when replying but we will do our best to get back to you as quickly as we can.  Your work for week 9 has been added to our class page.  We have set it out a little differently and have added days to our Maths and English plans.  This makes it a little easier for the staff in school who are working with key worker children.  There are also only 3 lessons in the topic section as we felt that some of you may be a little tired in the afternoons and that you may wish to work on your own projects, spend time in the garden or play some games.  You may even want to do the activities over two days rather than one.  It is entirely up to you and your families.

Take care,

Mrs Fisher and Mrs Green x

07.06.20

Good evening Forge Class,

Mrs Fisher and I wanted to say well done to the children who were back in school this week as it was quite different to what we have all been used to. We do however miss all our Year 2’s and other Year 1’s who are not back with us yet and we hope you are all doing okay. Please don't forget that if you would like a zoom call with us (and a small group of friends from Forge Class) then  get your parents to email us and we will try to arrange a time that is convenient for us all.
Week 10 folder has been added to our home learning page and again just try to complete what you can. Our new book this week in English is called ‘The Day the Crayons Quit’ and we ask that you only read half of the book if you have it or only listen to half of it on YouTube if you don’t. We have added the YouTube link on our plans.
Have a good week whether you are in school or at home. Hopefully, we will see you altogether again soon!
Take care,

Mrs Green and Mrs Fisher xx

14.06.20

Good evening Forge Class,
Mrs Fisher and I hope you have had a good week last week and managed to complete some work. We have uploaded this week’s work in the Week 11 folder and again just complete what you can. When you have completed all your English tasks, be sure to read or listen to the rest of the story 'The Day the Crayons Quit'.
We have also set up a Zoom call for Friday at 1:00PM. Please email us if you would like to join us for a chat and catch up.
Have a good week. Hopefully, we'll see you all soon.

Take care,
Mrs Green and Mrs Fisher xx

Good afternoon Forge Class,
We do hope you have had a good week whether you have been in school or at home. We have uploaded this week’s work in the Week 12 folder, and we are starting a new book in English called 'Love from the Crayons'. It is a beautiful book all about the different colours of love and reason why they are that colour. We hope you enjoy working through the tasks and please just do what you can.
It was lovely speaking to some of the Year 1 and 2 children on Friday who joined Mrs Fisher and I for a Zoom call catch up. We cannot believe how big and grown up you have all got!
Have a great week and we look forward to seeing all the new children returning to school the week beginning 29th June.

Take care and be safe,
Mrs Green and Mrs Fisher x

28/06/20
Good evening Forge Class,
We do hope you have had a great week.
Mrs Fisher and I are extremely excited to see everyone who is returning to school tomorrow for the first time in an exceptionally long time! If you are not returning, please stay safe and we will see you soon. We will not be uploading any work onto our class page but feel free to go back through the folders and complete any work you have not manage to do. You could also visit BBC Bitesize and Oaks Academy which are particularly good sites.
Have a good week everyone.

Stay safe and take care.
Mrs Green and Mrs Fisher x
