Swimming Lessons

Updated: April 2021

Our swimming pool has been opened and is now ready for use. As soon as the weather warms up we will be starting our swimming lessons which we are hoping will be week beginning 10th May. Children receive an average of eleven swimming lessons whilst our pool is open.

Please note that we cannot allow your children into the pool without your consent so a permission slip must be returned to the school. Unfortunately this year due to Covid guidelines if a child does not have their swimming kit on the correct day they will be unable to swim as we will not be holding spare kit or towels. Our swimming has been risk assessed in line with the new covid-19 guidance from Swim England.

Children will not be allowed to swim for 48 hours if they have had sickness or an upset stomach.

Requirements for swimming

  • One piece costume for girls and trunks or fitted swimming shorts for boys
  • Goggles can be worn
  • Long hair must be tied back
  • All jewellery must be removed
  • Verucca socks must be worn / cuts must be covered
  • Sliders/flip flops or crocs are needed should a child need to urgently leave the pool area
  • A named bag for wet clothing

Please do not allow your children to bring toiletries such as talcum powder or deoderant.

Children in Fir Tree and Forge classes should come into school in their PE kits on their swimming days to help them get changed - small fiddly buttons are really not easy when you are only four years old!

Children in Hurstwood, Kemsley and Oakwood should come into school in uniform as normal
