FIFA World Cup 25 – Our KS2 football team attended this event at the Gallagher Football Stadium on Monday along with 34 other schools in Kent. Each school was given a country to represent, Bredhurst was Belgium. We played 5 matches in the group stages, drawing our first match 1:1. The boys soon fell into team work, winning the next four matches - 4:0, 4:0, 2:1 and 3:0 with brilliant goals scored by Kairo, Marcell, Freddie and Harper. This put us through to the quarter finals. The games were getting harder and the final game resulted in a penalty shootout – very nerve wracking - but they scored all their penalties, putting us through to the semi-finals. We won! Now, the final, all the boys played brilliantly, it was really a tough game, we were up against VIPS Leybourne Chase representing Denmark, they scored first followed by us, then just before the end of time they slipped another goal in. Game over, Denmark Won!! Our team Kairo Sage, Marcell Ward, Freddie Benton, Harper Horton, Tate Smith, Jude Liston and Thomas Holder were the youngest team there with only two year 6 children and five year 5’s - an amazing result for such a small school.
