Bredhurst Church of England Primary School

On Tuesday a team of 8 children represented our school at the Mini Youth Games Athletics Tournament at Medway Park.

The event started with a mini marathon, Morgan Humphries for the girls with a great result and Kairo ran for the boys resulting in a seven second lead from the rest of the racers.

The rest of the field competition was Javelin, Cricket ball throw, Ball push, Discus, Vertical Jump, Triple Jump, Speed Bounce and long Jump. Jamie Jackson had the longest discus throw of the whole event with a throw over 17m!  This was followed by the rest of the track events 60 metres, 100 metres, 200 metres and the 4x100 relays. 

After a long hot tiring day the results were Bredhurst 5 overall from 34 schools.

A very well done to the team:- Morgan Humphries, Millie Jeary, Lily Rose Bennett Smith, Mia Jones, Jamie Jackson, Toby Hayter, Marcell Ward and Kairo Sage. 

A special mention to Kairo Sage and Mia Jones who have represented the school in almost every Mini Youth Games Tournament – very well done both of you. You have shown the SPIRIT throughout each and every competition you have taken part in.

It was a fun afternoon of sports and the children (and hopefully parents/grandparents) all enjoyed themselves. We have decided we will do it on a Friday afternoon again next year as it was a lovely end to the week.

Well done to the football team who played in the semi-finals of the football league.  They played fantastically, winning their match 1-0, with a great goal by Freddie.  This meant they then faced the final of the league.  They played North Borough a team with very large year 6 children!  They held their own, listened to Mr. Peters, dug deep when it mattered and thanks to another super goal by Freddie and a superb final save by Thomas (in the final minute) ended up winning the final!  We are so very proud of them – what a great achievement!  Well done Toby Hayter, Thomas Holder, Jude Liston, Marcell Ward, Felicity Friday, Tate Smith, Harper Horton, Freddie Benton and the captain – Kairo Sage – they really have been a superb team.

Our Netball team went to Trottscliffe primary School on Tuesday to play in the Quarter finals. The whole team played exceptionally well, with great attacking and defending. Well done to Millie, Mia, Bella, Morgan, Erin, Freddie, Lennie, Armaan, Marcell and Kairo. Unfortunately, we lost 9-11 to a very worthy team.  With Armaan scoring most of our goals. We wish them good luck in the semi-final next week.

Well done to our football team, who played in the final match of the group stages, they won 3-0 against North Borough School with Marcell Ward scoring the first of the goals and Harper Horton scoring the next 2 in the second half.  They are now through to the quarter finals against Loose Primary School. They really are a super team!
