Football Finals

Football Finals

Well done to the football team who played in the semi-finals of the football league.  They played fantastically, winning their match 1-0, with a great goal by Freddie.  This meant they then faced the final of the league.  They played North Borough a team with very large year 6 children!  They held their own, listened to Mr. Peters, dug deep when it mattered and thanks to another super goal by Freddie and a superb final save by Thomas (in the final minute) ended up winning the final!  We are so very proud of them – what a great achievement!  Well done Toby Hayter, Thomas Holder, Jude Liston, Marcell Ward, Felicity Friday, Tate Smith, Harper Horton, Freddie Benton and the captain – Kairo Sage – they really have been a superb team.

Netball Team

Our Netball team went to Trottscliffe primary School on Tuesday to play in the Quarter finals. The whole team played exceptionally well, with great attacking and defending. Well done to Millie, Mia, Bella, Morgan, Erin, Freddie, Lennie, Armaan, Marcell and Kairo. Unfortunately, we lost 9-11 to a very worthy team.  With Armaan scoring most of our goals. We wish them good luck in the semi-final next week.

Netball Match

On Thursday afternoon, although chilly, the sun did shine on our netball team- as they played their latest match away at St, John’s Primary School. It was a fast-paced game, playing a very skilled opposition, however, the team really worked well together (and even though some of them were asked to play in a new position) They all did exceptionally well. Coming back with a very high scoring win 8-9 to Bredhurst. Our team were: Freddie Benton, Bella Wood, Erin Charnock, Mia Jones, Morgan Humphries, Millie Jeary, Lennie Smith and Armaan Ahluwalia.

Final Cross Country of the Series

Key-stage 2 children attended there last cross-county events. With every type of weather thrown at them and one of the hardest courses they have faced, our team did exceptionally well- with several children getting a personal best.

We are so proud of them all. However, a special mention must go to three individuals who achieved the high accolade of achieving a second award. Both Connie Blackman and Callum Williams received 2 place in the overall series- how amazing! As well as an outstanding performance once again and receiving an amazing first place in the overall series -Kairo Sage. We are so very proud them.

Utilita Regional Finals

Utilita Regional Finals

On Thursday our football team representing Gillingham FC travelled all the way to Milton Keynes for the Regional Final of the EFL Cup.   The team were very excited on arrival and were soon warming up ready for the start. The level of football was very high and our first match was against Barnet Town which we drew 1-1. Kairo scoring the goal, unfortunately Kairo was already harbouring an injury which was exacerbated by the physicality of the match. After treatment, assessment and discussion with the Gillingham Coach Kairo was told he would not be playing in any more matches. This was a blow to the team and a great disappointment to Kairo who could now only watch and encourage his team forward.

All the team played really well, Marcell and Harper battling at the front, Freddie, Tate and Toby taking control of midfield with Felicity and Jude in defence Thomas in Goal.  Our team looked so small as they were mainly Year 5’s against some very tall year 6’s. But they played to their best ability. We lost against Bromly 3-1 with Tate scoring a goal. Third game was against Crawley which we won 2-1 goals from Harper and Freddie. Forth game was against Cambridge United losing 4-0. Our final game in the group was against Walsall losing 6-1 goal scored by Toby. We then had the play-off for final position which we lost giving Gillingham FC a final position of 10 Place. Well done to the whole team especially persevering once they knew Kairo had been benched.

Our netball team entered the Mini Youth Games. There were 29 teams competing and our first match was against Mierscourt Primary the game was very fast paced and we wone 3-0. A very good start, we then had another 5 successful matches winning 5-0, 1-0, 4-0, 6-0 and 3-2. Our team was feeling very confident but, harder teams were to come, we drew the next match with St. Andrews 2-2 and the final match against Halling we lost 3-0. We finished 4 overall just missing out on a medal. The team played brilliantly together. Well done to Freddie, Marcell, Lennie, Mia, Morgan and Millie.

On Friday we held our annual Mothers Day Breakfast. I can’t believe how busy it was, the hall was awash with mums, nans and children – what a lovely way to finish the week.

A massive thank you to Julie MacLeod for organising, buying, and cooking all the Mother’s Day Breakfast food. Thank you also to Mrs Sage and Mrs Green for their help in the kitchen.

Mrs Carey accompanied the school choir to the Central Theatre on Tuesday 10th March.  She said the children sang their hearts out, behaved impeccably and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience.  The photo she sent of them just shouted happiness and exuberance! Well done to the choir, you represented the school superbly and a big thank you to Mrs Carey who organised the trip.

Drama 4 All

On Monday, the children in Fir Tree and Forge class started off their week with a super drama session run by Drama 4 all.  They absolutely loved it, all joining in and really coming out of themselves.  It was lovely to hear their excited voices.
