Mothers Day Breakfast
On Friday we held our annual Mothers Day Breakfast. I can’t believe how busy it was, the hall was awash with mums, nans and children – what a lovely way to finish the week.
A massive thank you to Julie MacLeod for organising, buying, and cooking all the Mother’s Day Breakfast food. Thank you also to Mrs Sage and Mrs Green for their help in the kitchen.

Music Festival at Central Theatre
Mrs Carey accompanied the school choir to the Central Theatre on Tuesday 10th March. She said the children sang their hearts out, behaved impeccably and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. The photo she sent of them just shouted happiness and exuberance! Well done to the choir, you represented the school superbly and a big thank you to Mrs Carey who organised the trip.
Drama 4 All
On Monday, the children in Fir Tree and Forge class started off their week with a super drama session run by Drama 4 all. They absolutely loved it, all joining in and really coming out of themselves. It was lovely to hear their excited voices.
Cross Country
This was held at Swimgate Primary school and was the best yet! The school encouraged all the children with an energetic warm up and dancing to music by their PE Department. The race started with Connie our only Yr 5 girl. She ran a brilliant race finishing in 4th place. This was followed by the Year 5 boys. The race was quite flat this year approximately 1.6 km. Freddie led the way for the boys finishing in 9th place followed by Toby 10th. Joel was next to finish for Bredhurst in 25th place followed by Tate 29th, Frankie 47th and Zac in 49th place. This was the biggest group of runners with 57 taking part. Year 6 girls were up next with Mia finishing in 9th place, just ahead of Lily Rose in 10th. Alannah finished in 38th and Samantha in 39th . The Year 6 boys were next, another large group of 54 runners. Kairo sprinted the whole course finishing 15 seconds in front of the next runner. Jamie finished in 36th place, Jack 45th followed by Lennie in 47th place.
Swingate presented all the runners with a medal, which was an amazing thing to do to encourage and celebrate their achievement in finishing the race.
MYG Table Tennis
Yesterday our Table Tennis Team entered the MYG Tournament with another 35 schools at Medway Park. The standard of table tennis amazed our players - Morgan, Lily Rose, Felicity, Marcell, Toby and Kairo.
Every child played to their best ability playing 3 sets to each match. During the Tournament every child won at least two complete matches, unfortunately we lost more than we won, which caused some disappointment and frustration to a couple of team members. We must remember that sportsmanship is very important, without that and respect for others a team cannot build strength and the ‘spirit of Bredhurst’ is lost.
KS2 Netball Match
Last Friday 30.1.26 Our Netball Team went to South Borough Primary School for their first Netball Match in the Community League. Our team looked worried when they saw the opposition as they looked very tall and skilful. The match started and all the teams worries dropped as they played their own game of quick movement around the court. feeding the ball to our goal scorers. Unfortunately, the nets were a lot higher that the ones we have at school and proved a problem reaching them. The team persevered and after many shots they started to go in. the end result was South Borough 3 Bredhurst 5 - Brilliant result well done to the team - Mia, Millie, Morgan, Arabella, Erin, Kairo, Freddie, Marcell and Lennie.
Utilita Cup
Our UKS2 Football Team entered the Utilita Kids Cup along with 12 other teams across Medway.
The first match was against Bligh School and we won 3-0 which boosted their confidence of the team. The standard of football was very high keeping our team very focused in attacking and defending. Thomas pulled of some brilliant saves. We won a further three games and drew two, which put us through to the semi finals which we won and then the final against Loose. The whole team played very well and proved to be the winners of the tournament. Well done to Kairo, Marcell, Freddie, Felicity, Jude, Harper, Toby, Tate and Thomas. The Team will now go to Swindon in March for Reginal Finals.
Christingle
On Wednesday, Hurstwood class went up to the church to learn about Candlemass.
We learnt that the Christmas period is called Candlemass and lasts until 2nd February. We made Christingles. We got an orange that represents the world and then put a red ribbon round it which is for Jesus' blood. Then we got 4 sticks which represent the four seasons and then put sweets on the sticks, these stand for all the good things that we have. We put a candle in the middle and we lit it to spread the light around the world.
We were given biscuits to eat and then we returned to school.

UKS2 Football Match
Yesterday (22.1.26) Upper Key Stage 2 Football Team had their third league match against Allington Primary School. The weather was atrocious with the team getting soaked before kick off. The first goal was scored by Toby quickly followed by Allingotn scoring. The game proved quite tough with Allington defending well. Thomas was absolutly brilliant in goal only letting in two goals. The final result was 6-2 with Harper and Kairo scoring the other goals. Well done to our team:- Kairo, Freddie, Tate, Harper, Thomas, Jude, Felicity and Toby. Another win towards the league.
Year 5+6 Cross Country
Cross Country – This was the second race of the series for Years 5+6, held at Cliffe Woods Primary School.
The weather was atrocious making the terrain very slippery. The children ran 1.6km in very muddy conditions with intermittent rain. Connie Blackman was the only year 5 girl and was first to race. She ran a very determined race keeping up with the front runners and finishing a very respectable 3rd place.
Year 5 boys were next with 7 runners, the course was getting churned up and resulted in Freddie who was in the leading pack slipping injuring his thigh muscle which resulted in his withdrawal from the race. The rest of the boys carried on running with the final result being Toby 5th , Joel 19th , Tate 23rd , James 25th , Frankie 30th and Zach 40th. This was an amazing result from 56 runners. Next was our year 6 girls and the rain started once more, we had 4 girls entered resulting in Mia 12th , Lily Rose 14th , Alannah 34th and Samantha 47th They all ran really well and finished the race very muddy. Lastly, Year 6 boys, we had 5 boys entered, Kairo proved once again a formidable runner winning his race in 5.31secs. followed by the rest of our team Jamie 21st , Marcell 28th , Lennie 38th and Jack 40th. We are really proud of the whole team who showed such determination and stamina in finishing the race.
